Summary Sunday: Issue 546

Keeping up with all the changes in job search isn’t something most people have time for. That’s one of the reasons I curate articles and share them in Summary Sunday.

You are busy doing your job, not worrying about the latest trends in hiring or workplace trends. But when it is time to look for a new job, you need to know what’s going on.

Summary Sunday: Issue 546

For those of you who subscribe to my newsletter (subscribe here) you may have noticed it’s been a while since you last got your Summary Sunday. November 26th to be exact. Well, I took a hiatus. I have been regularly posting a summary for over 10 years but I needed a break. I needed to spend time NOT thinking about job search trends, NOT reading what the experts were saying. I needed a reboot and fresh perspective.

Here are recent articles I found that brought me back up to speed and I hope will do the same for you.

WORKPLACE

These 2 articles align well.

HR Predictions for 2024: The Global Search For Productivity – Josh Bersin

Read this to understand the trends in hiring and artificial intelligence. It’s written primarily for Human Resources and will help job seekers understand how employers think. Bersin writes “as we enter 2024, all that is different. We have to 'œhoard our talent,' invest in productivity, and redevelop and redeploy people for growth.”

6 Future Job Market Trends to Watch Out for in 2024 – Teal

This also reveals hiring trends but this is written specifically for job seekers. And if you haven’t tested Teal’s free job tracker yet, I highly recommend it.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

It’s tough to keep up with all the changes in artificial intelligence. I subscribe to these 2 newsletters that summarize important developments and tools. (I don’t read every issue, but when I do, I learn something new!)

The Neuron

A daily look at AI tools and news. (Be sure to check out their list of AI tools, resources and courses)

The Rundown AI

It’s what we’ve all suspected. “[A] recent research paper published byA University of Pittsburgh, … suggests that organizations are leveraging Return-To-Office mandates not to enhance firm value, but rather to reassert control and shift blame for poor performance onto employees.”

LINKEDIN

The Algorithm Insights 2024 Report The Ultimate LinkedIn„¢ Guide for Business Growth – Richard van der Blom & AuthoredUp

This 120 page report is free to download. It contains more information than most of us need, but it contains interesting data to help you understand what’s going on with LinkedIn.

WBL LIVE-A-Thon Event – Meller Media

You missed the live event, but you can get the recording and handouts from over 15 presenters about how to use LinkedIn for your job search! There are some dynamite presenters here and Brenda Meller is definitely someone to follow on LinkedIn.

CAREER
