HERE GOES NOTHING. I promise I am not imagining you naked. But, I'll tell you straight up that I'm equal parts excited and terrified as I share this huge news with you. I'm going to channel my inner Brené Brown so my vulnerability shows up as courage versus trepidation. I wrote a book and it just launched today. To say that this past year has been a whirlwind would be an understatement. On the heels of my mom recovering from a life-threatening illness (and 11 cross-country trips back and forth to my hometown), I got an out-of-the-blue email from Simon & Schuster: Do you want to write a book? The book, as I learned, would be a part of a new series called: "Do This, Not That." It's a series designed to help people tackle various important life topics, including careers and dating. Obviously, they asked me to write the one about dating. LOL, they sure did not. I was invited to submit writing samples for the career-focused book, an invitation I was thrilled to accept. I mean, who doesn't want access to quick, on-demand advice as they navigate job search, career growth, and challenging workplace issues? I got the gig. I was elated to land the assignment ... even as I realized it would involve writing an entire manuscript within four months, while also running a business, and attempting to be the present and cool mom of teens (lol, "cool"), and an engaged wife. It wasn't pretty, at all. We ate a lot of carryout. I would burst into tears in front of my laptop, at 3 a.m., after 16 hours of writing, as I worked to develop a book worthy of my publisher and, importantly, worthy of all of you. My fitness routine was, well, non-existent. My kids actually had a running joke: "Hey, we're not sure. Is Mom writing a book? We'd have never guessed!" (OK, kids, I get it. My life became the book for a hot minute.) But I did it. And it's here, as of today. I hope you'll check it out. https://lnkd.in/gHwDy5Tg Special thanks to my friends Vanessa Van Edwards, Ash Ambirge, Paul Angone, Mac Prichard, Tess Vigeland, and Dawn Graham, PhD for checking the book out early and sharing so many kind words about the project. #dothisnotthat #careersuccess #booklaunch
