How To Prioritize The 8 Key Areas Of Life

Last week, I discussed the first step to finding your purpose, where you determined whether you tip more towards being a consumer or a creator in life. Today, let's dive into step #2.

Prioritizing The 8 Key Areas Of Life

So, you’ve figured out whether you’re a consumer or a creator. Now, we need to prioritize the eight key areas of life.

Take a look at the eight categories listed below:

  • Career
  • Finances
  • Mental Self
  • Physical Self
  • Family/Friends
  • Significant Other
  • Hobbies/Interests
  • Home/Habitat

Now, I want you to list out these categories, ordering them from most to least important to you. When push comes to shove, what is the most important area in your life? What is the least important area? No ties! You need to get clear on your life priorities.

How Are You Prioritizing The 8 Key Areas Of Life?

Once you’ve made your list, I want you to be very honest with yourself and order them how they have been prioritized. How are you currently prioritizing these eight key areas of life? Because very rarely do I find somebody whose ideal prioritization of the areas of life is matching up with the way they've been doing it.

This is where that friction is coming from, that tug of war that I talked about in my previous article. You aren't aligned with your priorities.

So, if you want to figure out the possible disconnect between how you’ve been prioritizing these eight key areas of life and how you want to prioritize them, do this exercise. Tell me what you found in the comments below.

Come back next week where I’ll outline the third (and final) step to finding your purpose in life!
