Preparing for a big interview? Besides researching the interviewer and company you should plan your message. ❓ Who do you know inside the company? Have you spoken to them yet? ❓ What are the most important skills needed in this position? And how will I include them in my answer to “tell me about yourself?” or pitch? (3-5 skills) ❓ How will I demonstrate my qualifications for the job in my 60 second answer to "tell me about yourself?" ❓ What STAR stories do I want to tell that back up the desired 3-5 qualifications of the job? ❓ What 5 questions do I want to ask during the interview? ❓ What do I want the interviewer to remember about me so I include it in my closing? It's easy to feel overwhelmed. Stay focused on what you can control... your answers are aligned with the role. And be prepared to think on your feet when necessary! Have fun and smile!

Be Memorable. What STAR stories do I want to tell that back up the desired 3-5 qualifications of the job? Understanding and preparing for the SOAR (Situation, Obstacle, Action, Result) or STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) methods can greatly improve your performance in interviews by clearly demonstrating your competencies and how they apply to the job you’re applying for.

I'd like to suggest this if I may: Having been on the other side of the desk, something I think people don't think about is this: This interviewer may not be a great interviewer. They could just be the person who couldn't run fast enough when the interview team was being assembled. So if the interview feels awkward, don't assume it is you!

This is such a good checklist Hannah! I think that people tend to neglect the importance of asking good questions when interviewed. I've actually had a hiring manager decline someone for failure to ask any questions: I kid you not!
