Have you exported your first degree connections lately? LinkedIn messaging is cool, but not all users are active on the platform. My inbox gets overwhelmed fast and messages can go unseen/read. Go beyond the LinkedIn UI: Creating a spreadsheet of your connections can help you stay organized while ramping up your networking efforts. Here are a few ideas: ✅ If "networking more" is a goal, this spreadsheet creates a scannable list of contacts to reconnect with. While not all emails will be available, you can pre-schedule reminders to reach out to specific contacts to stay top-of-mind. ✅ You can filter by industry or target company if you are information- gathering about a career pivot or probing about a company's culture. ✅ The company field may inspire you to look beyond the usual suspects for job leads. ✅ Identify networking gaps to see where your connections are concentrated and underrepresented. ✅ If culling your 1st degree connections is on your agenda, you can sort by connection date. I joined LinkedIn over a decade ago so and those "LION" connections aren't serving my purpose anymore. ✅ Networking is reciprocity. How can you add value to that connection? Are they Open to Work or publish an industry article (you would have to reference LinkedIn)? Do you share similar skills? Can you connect them to someone in your network who could be a valuable resource? Steps on how to export your connections: 1️⃣ Click “Me” 2️⃣ Click “Settings & Privacy” 3️⃣ Click “Data privacy” 4️⃣ Click on “Get a copy of your data” 5️⃣ Select “Connections” 6️⃣ Click the download link in the email 7️⃣ Click “Download archive” 8️⃣ Open the CSV file to get your contacts 💡Bonus: You have a backup of your connections. What other ways could you leverage a spreadsheet of your 1st degree connections?

In my spreadsheet, I've noticed multiple connections who have an assignment connection number but with no data. LinkedIn Help, any insight?

I believe I'm right in saying that here in Europe we get almost no email addresses in that export Kelli Hrivnak, I think because of our GDPR laws and people having to opt in to share their data.

Oohhhh…I regret my past LION status connections a bit. Lol. I’ve culled about 10000 connections since 2020.

Great reminder. LI's Messenger can get overwhelming fast. They really should work on their UI.

I have every one of my clients do this, then add a column to categorize people. Teir one connections get reached out to first. People at target companies get priorized next. This allows you to be more strategic and thoughtful in your outreach.

If you have connections that post consistently, and you want to ensure you see the posts You can create a separate tab of those individuals and now you are not at the mercy of the algorithm

I know about this. Here is the issue for me. I do not want to start getting emails from all the people I've connected with

Yep, just updated mine last week. I find it very helpful to try and keep track of my Connections. I keep it in an Excel spreadsheet with some extra columns to help me determine who is most valuable to interact with.

This is a great idea - gives the user a new way to more effectively search data they already have. I would also scan the list for connections from former employers and see who’s missing - could be a good opportunity to bring 2nd degrees closer.
